The Program Coordinator for Children In Need, Inc. (CIN) reports to the Executive Director. This is a nonexempt position which is responsible for overseeing CIN’s programs and support the recruitment, supervision, and management of front-end volunteers. This position plays a vital role in ensuring high-quality service delivery to the families we serve while promoting a welcoming, safe, and efficient environment for both clients and volunteers. The Program Coordinator is also responsible for daily restocking of client service areas and light cleaning to maintain a safe, organized space. They’re expected to adhere to the CORE Values of Children In Need – Kindness | Respect | Compassion | Teamwork.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1) Program Oversight

- Provide day-to-day oversight of the Client Services and Extended Services programs, including all related umbrella initiatives, to ensure consistent, high-quality service delivery and alignment with organizational goals.
- Ensure a high standard of service delivery by maintaining positive relationships with clients and addressing any concerns promptly.
- Coordinate and assist with client registration and assess eligibility for services.
- Provide families with appropriate referrals for additional community support when needed.
- Monitor and report program outcomes, client demographics, and monthly service statistics.
- Purchase toiletries and other client items as needed, in line with the organization’s budget.
- Other duties as assigned.
2) Volunteer Coordination

- Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise front-end volunteers who support client services.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all front-end volunteers.
- Ensure volunteers are trained and equipped to deliver services with kindness, respect, compassion, and teamwork.
- Maintain clear communication and scheduling using paper and digital calendars (including Microsoft Outlook).
- Conduct volunteer performance check-ins and provide support or redirection as needed.
- Maintain volunteer records and documentation and assist with volunteer appreciation efforts.
- Collaborate with the Warehouse Coordinator on shared volunteer responsibilities and operational needs.
3) Operations

- Restock clothing, hygiene items, school supplies, and other essentials in client service areas daily.
- Clean and organize client and volunteer service areas to ensure a welcoming and safe environment.
- Assist in daily monitoring of inventory and identify restocking needs.
- Provide coverage for client intake and support during peak periods.
Qualifications
-
- Associates degree preferred (fields of Human Services, Psychology, Business, Sociology, or related).
- At least 2 years of experience in program coordination, or volunteer management preferably in a nonprofit or social service setting. Retail experience a plus.
- Experience working with diverse populations facing poverty, trauma, housing instability, or related barriers.
- Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask and remain calm in a fast-paced, client-facing environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and compassionate service delivery.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word).
- Bilingual in Spanish preferred but not required.
- Comfortable working in environments that may not be climate-controlled, such as warehouse and service areas, during all seasons.
