Children In Need partnered with Comcast’s Xfinity to celebrate the holidays by dedicating a full day to supporting local children and families in Washington County, MD through hands-on volunteerism and community engagement.
The activities, which took place on December 8, began with Xfinity employees volunteering at Children In Need, where they sorted clothing donations to help ensure families receive essential items quickly. Their efforts supported our organization’s ability to meet the growing needs of children throughout Washington County.
In the evening, the Xfinity team returned to support Children In Need’s Client Night, where they created a warm and festive experience for local families. The event drove awareness around Children In Need’s mission and included a meet-and-greet with Santa Claus, complimentary coffee and hot cocoa, and an interactive exhibit which showcased Xfinity’s advanced connectivity services – including high-speed Internet and Xfinity Mobile, the company’s wireless solution.
During the event, Xfinity shared updates about its major network expansion in the Hagerstown area, which will connect more than 50,000 homes and businesses across the region to high-speed broadband. Xfinity’s expansion includes all homes and businesses in the City of Hagerstown, as well as surrounding communities such as Cavetown, Fairplay, Funkstown, Smithsburg, Tilghmanton and Williamsport. The company also announced a major milestone during the event that it has connected 15,000 locations in the Hagerstown area as part of its ongoing expansion.
